Bare Naked Fitness FAQ's
What is it??
A basic men's fitness class that can help you get in shape. As the title suggests, the class is done without clothing - bare naked - in the privacy of No Place Like Om Studio.
What kind of exercise?
The class includes a variety of exercises designed to tone and strengthen your body. We do some stretching, light aerobic exercise, toning and strenthening exercises with elastic bands and exercise balls, and lot of abdominal work.
Sounds good but I'm not in very good shape right now...
You will find men of all ages, sizes, and fitness levels.
How hard is it? (the class, that is ;-)
The class is beginner friendly. You will be encouraged to do as much as you can, but rest or modify exercises as needed. It is NOT a competition.
Do I need to make a reservation?
All classes are drop in only - no reservation or advance notice is required.
How big are the classes?
Class sizes average about 6-12 people. Sundays tend to be a but smaller, so if you are a beginner that may be the best day to try it out.
What should I expect?
If you are new, you should arrive at least 15 minutes early so we can get you settled. You walk in, take your shoes and coat off near the front door, then go into the dressing room near the back of the studio where you can disrobe. You can leave your clothes in a locker (bring a lock if you desire even though we've never had any issues). Mats, balls, and bands are provided although some people choose to bring their own exercise mats. We'll get you set up in the room and you'll be ready to go.
I am not used to being bare naked. What if I get excited?
It is not unusual for newcomers to become aroused at first. That will usually take care of itself once we begin exercising. In the meantime it just makes class a little more interesting ;-) We're all adults so it's not an issue.
Can I wear clothes?
If you want to wear a jock strap or shorts to your first class that is not a problem. If you decide to continue the classes on a regular basis you'll need to conform to the "undress" standard.
What about the massage on Thursdays?
At least once a month after the Thursday class there is an optional massage session that lasts about an hour. We pair people up and each person will get two massages and give two massages- once face up, and once face down - so there are four rounds of massage. After each round we typically switch partners so you'll get to work with different people. It's amateur massage, but it's also free, and it's a great way to relax after the workout.

- By day I work it the corporate world in a stressful job. It's hard to find time to stay in shape, so I teach this class for me as much as for anyone else. I have always exercised regularly and lifted weights, but I find that this class, which is focused on higher repetitions and toning muscles, is a good way to balance out my workout. It's also great to see guys who haven't worked out in a while (or ever) come into the class and stick with it! We're not gym rats - we're average guys who want to get and keep fit. Join us!
